Stepping back and analyzing the effects that COVID has had on an organization is an exercise we believe every leader should perform. Good or bad, COVID has changed the way we do business and has also created what we like to think of as the COVID limelight, a unique highlighting of what is, or is not working in an organization.

Whenever a new tool is released that replaces an existing one, there is always the question of whether the new product is ready and full featured. In the case of Power Apps replacing InfoPath, the answer is a resounding yes.
While InfoPath will still be supported until April of 2023 for legacy systems, there is no guarantee that it will be supported in Microsoft 365 until that time. Microsoft recently announced the end of SharePoint Designer 2010 workflows, giving customers six months to upgrade to 2013 or Power Automate. And it’s not just that they won’t be supported, the flows will stop running. There’s a good chance that the same could happen with InfoPath on M365.
Power Automate (part of the Microsoft 365 suite) is a powerful low-code platform for workflow process automation and is also a major improvement over SharePoint Designer. It’s integrated with all of the M365 suite rather than just SharePoint, there are more pre-built triggers, and hundreds of LOB connectors and templates to get you started.
STILL HAVE SHAREPOINT WORKFLOWS?
In case you missed it, Microsoft announced in July that existing SharePoint 2010 workflows stop working on M365 as of November 1, 2020. SharePoint 2013 workflows are likely to quickly follow.
While not every feature from SharePoint Designer 2010/2013 flows has made it into Power Automate, there are many compelling new features to consider.
